I, Holobiont

The 20-minutes performance “I, holobiont” by Nella Turkki and Janis Heldmann explores the topic of the human body as a multispecies entity, a holobiont. A holobiont is a living ecosystem in which cells, microbes and bacteria share the same body and live in the interdependence of each other.
Where are our borders to the environment, if we are not alone in our bodies? How can we encounter the unknown in us and each other?

ANHEL


ANHEL is a collaborative work of Nella Turkki and the saxophonist Marc Vilanova. The duet explores the feeling of longing as evidence of our existence. It visualizes this irrational feeling which makes us being connected to places and people we are not physically connected to, or have never been. This feeling is often suppressed in everyday life; nowadays, social media keeps us connected to almost anywhere in the world. But is that connection enough? Why is there always a feeling of missing something – of being connected to something what we can’t reach? Why do we have these invisible strings of longing that pull us towards somewhere else, and where exactly do they lead us?
